Positivity and Paranoia... and Zombies
Apr. 17th, 2010 10:56 amI've woken up this morning with big feelings of dread. I've got a lot of horrid nasties going on. Day job has been busy and the office is like a greenhouse, not fabulous for working in. Back at my old house there have been little disasters going on with floods both from the soil stack and the water tank, and Maddy cat has developed a heart murmur and very bad gingivitis, so it looks like I've got to shell out thousands of pounds that I just don't have. Insurance won't be able to help me very much at all, unfortunately.
On the plus side, I'm a hard worker and pretty astute, so I'm not despairing absolutely - I'll work something out. But it's a bit of a raincloud I've got hanging over me at the moment.
Yesterday was additionally stressful as I had our big gig in Earls Barton and in the morning had two acts cancel on me. I managed to get them replaced, only for one of the replacement acts to get stuck on the motorway miles away form the gig. After frantically ringing round - using the lovely Chris Purchase's mobile due to having a dwindling battery on my phone (due to all the earlier disasters eating up all the power) - I ended up being the replacement act. And it went fine, though I felt an enormous amount of pressure. Nonetheless all went well, and Terry Saunders was fabulous.I gather he was on BBC6 yesterday and gave our little gig a plug on Andrew Collins's show too! It was a nicely packed gig (another hot room!)and the other middles went down very well indeed.
Enormous thanks to Nick Chapman and Bridget, Dave Lawrence, hot-shot photographer, Louise Frohock, Phoenix Soundworks, the EB WMC and all who work in her, Jonathon Elston, Lou Chawner, Chris Purchase, Will Duggan, Lewis Charlesworth and the marvellous Terry Saunders.
The Earls Barton Festival is taking place in June and our big, big gig for that is Saturday June 12th - so watch this space!
