WI Fit: Or - Will I Have to Make Jam Now?
Jul. 11th, 2011 11:59 pmWhere's my non-existant frilly apron? I've just been to a WI meeting!!
And I had a really nice evening as about 50 of us got together to discuss putting together our own branch here in Northampton. That's a lot of people to cram into Nanna's kitchen at Most Marvellous Place, but the atmosphere was one of excitement and happy cakyness (very nice carrot cake they do there mmmmm).
A lot of the ladies were looking wonderfully glam following a vintage hair workshop, led by Sidonie of Aurora Loves, earlier in the day. My retro look was more inspired by the Black Death of 1666 as I picked flying ants out of my red-rimmed eyes and unkempt straw-dry hair (not in the cafe - hygiene!).
Quite a lot of today was organised by the very talented Helen of The White Petal Workshop. Some advisors came down and told us how we would go about setting up a branch and what we could do, and it does all sound rather attractive. The WI is not just about jam and Jerusalem, you know. They do other things... like pole dancing lessons. That's me sorted then!
